About Class 3 Punjab textbooks

Class 3 is the third year of primary school in Punjab and the last year of the early primary stage. Children now read to learn rather than learning to read, and they write longer answers of their own. The books are published by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), Lahore, which has been part of the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) since June 2024. The editions listed here were written for the Single National Curriculum (SNC).

Books in this class

• Class 3 Urdu: longer lessons and poems, with questions that check understanding.
• Class 3 English: reading short passages alone and writing a few sentences of their own.
• Class 3 Maths: bigger numbers, multiplication and division, and word problems.
• General Knowledge (Waqfiyat-e-Aama): the last year of GK before it splits into Science and Social Studies in Class 4.
• Class 3 Islamiat: the compulsory Islamic Studies book for Muslim students.
• Class 3 Ethics (Akhlaqiat): studied by non-Muslim students in place of Islamiat.

Which edition should you use?

All books on this page are the SNC editions. Older pre-SNC Class 3 books from PCTB still circulate, and Maths and General Knowledge have also been printed in separate English and Urdu medium versions, so match the cover and medium with your school’s book list before you download.

The books before these are the Class 2 Punjab textbooks, and the next year’s are the Class 4 Punjab textbooks.
