About Class 2 Punjab textbooks

Class 2 is the second year of primary school in Punjab. Children keep the same subjects as in Class 1, but the lessons get longer and there is much more reading and writing of their own. The books are published by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB), Lahore, which has been part of the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority (PECTAA) since June 2024. The editions listed here were written for the Single National Curriculum (SNC).

Books in this class

• Class 2 Urdu: longer stories and poems, as reading moves from words to understanding.
• Class 2 English: short sentences and passages, and first steps in writing sentences.
• Class 2 Maths: place value, bigger numbers, and adding and subtracting with carrying.
• General Knowledge (Waqfiyat-e-Aama): early science and social studies in one book, as in Classes 1 and 3.
• Class 2 Islamiat: the compulsory Islamic Studies book for Muslim students.
• Class 2 Akhlaqiat (Ethics): studied by non-Muslim students in place of Islamiat.

Which edition should you use?

All books on this page are the SNC editions. Older pre-SNC Class 2 books from PCTB still circulate, and some private schools use books from other publishers, so match the cover with your school’s book list before you download.

The books before these are the Class 1 Punjab textbooks, and the next year’s are the Class 3 Punjab textbooks.
