What General Knowledge covers
In Classes 1 to 3, General Knowledge combines early science and social studies in one book. Children learn about themselves and their health, the people and places around them, plants, animals, weather and keeping their surroundings clean. From Class 4 these topics move into separate Science and Social Studies books.
Most of what this book teaches can be seen at home and in the street, which makes it the easiest subject to practise outside the classroom.
Learning GK outside the book
- Go on a short walk. Name the plants, animals and buildings you pass, and connect them to the chapter.
- Talk about the weather. Ask each morning whether it is sunny, cloudy or windy, and what clothes it calls for.
- Practise healthy habits. Hand washing and brushing teeth are in the book; doing them daily is the real lesson.
Other Class 2 books
Class 2 in Punjab also uses Urdu, English, Maths, Islamiat and Akhlaqiat (Ethics). All of them are on the Class 2 Punjab textbooks page. The book before this one is Class 1 General Knowledge, and the next is Class 3 General Knowledge.
